Because I value personal development and have an interest in education, I plan to use my gift of investing in others to support college students so that young adults will learn more about their true self.

This is me

My name is Cecelia Tatro. In May of 2022, I will graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. I majored in Management (HR) and Marketing with a minor in Leadership Studies. This is my Graduate with Leadership Distinction- Professional and Civic Engagement ePortfolio.

When I arrived at Carolina, I was an out-of-state student who knew no one. I struggled to find my place on campus until I got involved in offices across campus. Flash forward to second semester of senior year, and I am saying goodbye to so many great people and experiences. I served on the Carolina Judicial Council, an organization partnered with the Student Conduct Office, all four years. I was a Capstone Scholar turned Capstone Fellow. I was a Resident Mentor (Assistant) in University Housing for three years, and I worked as an intern with the Capstone Scholars Community and Parent and Family Programs. In my last two years, I also served as a Peer Instructor for University 101 Programs.

It was through my experiences that I found my passion and shaped my career goals. I plan to pursue a Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. I saw my mentors’ passion for student development and found my own as I supported and mentored first- and second-year students.

In this e-portfolio, you will find reflections from my various experiences. The Graduate with Leadership Distinction candidacy was an opportunity to reflect on how my within and beyond-the-classroom experiences shaped who I am today and my life after Carolina.

What is Graduate with Leadership Distinction?

"Students who earn Graduation with Leadership Distinction demonstrate extensive, purposeful engagement beyond the classroom, understanding of course concepts in “real world” settings, and application of learning to make decisions and solve problems"

- Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning (CIEL)

Through this experience, I connected my within-the-classroom experiences to my beyond-the-classroom experiences at UofSC. This website serves as a portfolio of my reflections and applications.
